Presentation description
Drosophila salivary gland polytene chromosome synapsis breaks down in hybrids. Through Hi-C and next generation sequencing with Illumina, the relative rates of asynapsis and replication can be compared across the chromosome. Data analysis is still being done. However, intial analysis of the data suggests that hybrids show coverage is anti-correlated with pairing. Contrasted with within species, where coverage and pairing seem to follow each other, with some exceptions that resemble hybrids.
