RNAi Screen for Damage Sensing Genes in the Drosophila Midgut

Semester: Fall 2022

Presentation description

For my project, we performed an unbiased, RNAi screen for damage sensing genes in the drosophila midgut. When inflammation occurs, signaling molecules are released to cause the intestinal stem cells to proliferate to replace the damaged or lost cells. However, the process through which this occurs is largely unknown. We performed a screen of 115 genes to determine their effect on stem cell proliferation, specifically with regard to unregulated growth in the context of colorectal cancer.
