Sex differences in soluble (pro)renin receptor regulation of blood pressure

Semester: Fall 2023

Presentation description

The (pro)renin receptor (PRR) is a recently discovered component of the RAAS pathway that can be cleaved to form soluble PRR. Our lab, via CRISPR-Cas9, developed a mutation such that male mice show near complete reduction of sPRR, while females show approximately 50% reduction. We tested both male and female mutants in two models of hypertension: Angiotensin-II infusion and DOCA-salt. Our results suggest that loss of sPRR attenuates Ang-II infused hypertension in males and females.
