Understanding Artifacts of Ultrasound to Optimize Focused Ultrasound (FUS) in a Mouse Model of Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (TLE)

Semester: Fall 2022

Presentation description

Under the umbrella of epilepsy, there are people who suffer from Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (TLE) with a third of them being drug resistant. Focused ultrasound (FUS) is a viable potential non-surgical treatment to reduce seizures within these people. However, FUS can cause unexpected auditory activation and resonance vibration capabilities that undermine FUS neuromodulation. My research dives into the FUS literature to optimize the reduction of these artifacts during FUS stimulation.
