Mary is a senior majoring in biology with a neurobiology emphasis and minor in chemistry. She started undergraduate research in the Spring of 2020 in Dr. Horvath’s lab, and is studying the impact of medicines on a DNA repair enzyme, MutY. She is interested in finding ways to make more efficient drug targeting systems for diseases like cancer or mutation rates in microbiota. She completed two semesters of UROP, and presented her research in the spring of 2022. Mary is continuing her research through the DNA lab course that Dr. Horvath teaches, and plans on publishing a paper in the Undergraduate Research Journal in the fall.
